Approximately an hour and a quarter drive from Almeria airport located in the Almanzora basin lies the charming market town of Albox. Situated between the better known towns of Huercal and Baza. Albox is surrounded by the mountain ranges of Sierra de Los Filabres and to the north the Sierra de Las Estancias which reaches heights of 1500m.

Albox has good connections to the E15 Autovia del Mediterraneo (The Mediterranean Motorway), which runs along the entire length of eastern coast of Spain, Albox is easily accessible. Given this and in conjunction with the fact that Albox is a typical white washed pretty village set among charming cobbled streets that are dotted with small plazas, it is something of a surprise that Albox has remained unspoilt by tourism.

The majority of visitors come to Albox for the Tuesday market. The market is divided into two parts the first for fresh produce and the other for everything else. It spans through the streets and into the Rambla (A dry riverbed) and here you can buy everything from clothes to livestock. A second smaller general market is held on Saturday mornings.

The surrounding countryside of Albox is made up of dramatic hills, orchards of citrus trees and olive groves which provide a multitude of areas to walk in and explore, Horse riding, cycling or for the more adventurous off – roading in a 4WD. With the beach resorts of Mojacar and Garrucha only forty minutes drive away and with the villages of Arboleas, Oria, Cantoria and Taberno within easy distance there is plenty to discover. The area is also home to Europe’s´ largest observatory.

Albox is a fully working Small Spanish town with all the required local amenities, its fascinating medieval origins and local traditions in ceramics combine a real flavour of Spain and make Albox a ideal spot for re-location or as an excellent base for a holiday home.
